Obituary of Larry D. Wilson
Funeral services for Larry D. Wilson, age 67, of Roanoke, will be held at 2:00 pm on Wednesday, June 21st, 2023, at Quattlebaum Funeral Chapel with Bro. Keith Benefield and Bro. Ken Brooks officiating. Burial will follow at Potash Church of God Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5:00 to 8:00 pm on Tuesday, June 20th.
Mr. Wilson passed away at Tanner East Alabama Medical Center in Wedowee on Monday, June 19, 2023.
Survivors include his wife, Elsie Faye Wilson; one daughter, Tina Rena Brown (Bryar) of Roanoke; one son, Frank Dean Wilson of Roanoke; his mother, Annie Lois Wilson of Roanoke; four grandchildren, Kara Leigh Goode, Elijah Moore, Taylor Wilson, and Jaxtyn Wilson; two sisters, Reign “Rhonda” Wilson (Nick) Baltes of Franklin, Ga and Brenda Hurst (Alan) of Wedowee; two brothers, Kenneth Mapp (Bonnie) of Five Points and Gene Mapp (Carol) of Northport; and a brother-in-law, Bill Puckett of Roanoke.
Pallbearers will be Bryar Brown, Bryant Thrower, Brandon Stewart, Butch Davis, Cole Davis, and Jeff Story. Honorary pallbearer will be Mikey Henderson.
A lifelong Randolph County resident, Mr. Wilson was born December 28, 1955, the son of James Frank and Annie Lois Burke Wilson. He attended Midway Full Gospel Church and had been employed as a construction worker and eventually retired from Knauf Fiberglass in Valley. Larry enjoyed the outdoors, whether it was gardening, fishing, woodworking, or riding his four-wheeler on the dirtroads to talk with his neighbors. Larry never met a stranger and would help anyone he could. He loved his family, especially his grandbabies. He was preceded in death by his father, James Frank Wilson; his pop, O’Neal Mapp; and his sister, Beth Puckett.
