Obituary of Jack Anglin, Sr.
Graveside services for Aubrey Jackson “Big Jack” Anglin, Sr., age 88, of Roanoke, Alabama, will be held on Saturday, September 23, 2023, at 12:15 PM at High Pine Baptist Church Cemetery with Bro. Tim Satterwhite officiating and Quattlebaum Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 11:00 AM – 12:00 PM on Saturday before services begin.
Mr. Anglin passed away on Tuesday, September 19, 2023, at his residence.
Survivors include his wife of 68 years, Sonia Ann Towler Anglin: one daughter, Judy Burdette (Kenny) of Blue Ridge, GA; two sons, Jack Anglin, Jr. (Cheryl) of Tampa, FL, and Joey Anglin of Roanoke; three grandchildren, Justin Burdette, Branden Anglin (Jensen), and Chris Ransom (Alexis); two great-grandchildren, Finan Ransom and Clarke Ransom; and several nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be Branden Anglin, Justin Burdette, Jack Anglin, Jr., Joey Anglin, Kenny Burdette, and Craig Anglin. Honorary pallbearers will be Jensen Hackett, Oliver Anglin, Sawyer Anglin, and Chris Ransom.
A Roanoke native, Mr. Anglin was born on February 16, 1935, the son of Oliver William and Mary Lou Pool Anglin. He was a member of High Pine Baptist Church where he served as a deacon and choir member. Mr. Anglin also served in the Alabama National Guard. He worked as a meat manager for several different companies and as a meat broker for Tri-Venture. Mr. Anglin was an avid outdoors man, enjoying hunting and fishing, gardening, and farming with his John Deere tractor. He loved the Lord and spent his life worshipping Him, and he enjoyed Southern Gospel music and playing guitar and singing at church. Mr. Anglin was an avid Alabama Crimson Tide fan. Mr. Anglin was a prankster and enjoyed riling his grandchildren with a good joke. He loved his family deeply and loved to have fun.
Mr. Anglin was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers, Roger Anglin, Jimmy Anglin, and Frank Anglin.
