OBITUARY
Funeral services for Ethel Vera May, age 87, of Roanoke, will be held 11:00 am, Wednesday, August 22, 2012, from Roanoke Church of Christ with Bro. Sam Carpenter officiating. Mrs. May will lie in state on hour before the service at the church. Burial to follow in Randolph Memory Gardens with Quattlebaum Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
The family will receive friends from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm on Tuesday, August 21, 2012, at the funeral home.
Pallbearers will be Doug Kirby, Ken Kirby, Chuck May, Chris May, Seth May, and Bo Robinson.
Mrs. May died Sunday, August 19, 2012, at Northeast Regional Medical Center.
Mrs. May is survived by three daughters, Sylvia (husband John) Kirby of Deleware, OH, Angela (husband Tim) Jackson of Caledonia, MS, Nancy May of Roanoke; one son, Charles (wife Lynda) May of Roanoke; nine grandchildren; eighteen great grandchildren.
Mrs. May was born May 20, 1925 in Stockton Health, Warrington, England, the daughter of George Thomas and Ethel Brooks James. She was a faithful member of the Roanoke Church of Christ and had worked for Palm Beach as a seamstress for thirty years. Mrs. May was preceded in death by her husband, Fred May; two sons, Kenneth and James May; two brothers; three sisters. Flowers will be accepted but the family prefers donations to the Alzheimer's Association, 225 N. Michigan Ave, 17th Flour, Chicago, Il 60601-7633 or ones favorite charity.
