Obituary of Josie Mae Towler Norred
Funeral services for Josie Mae Towler Norred, age 105, of Roanoke will be held on Sunday, March 10, 2024, at 4:00 PM at Quattlebaum Funeral Chapel with Bro. Stanley Yarbrough and Bro. Tim Whaley officiating. Burial will follow at Randolph Memory Gardens.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5:00-8:00 PM on Saturday, March 9, 2024.
Mrs. Norred passed away on Thursday, March 7, 2024, at Traylor’s Nursing Center in Roanoke.
Survivors include: six grandsons, John King, Ron King, Kevin Norred, Scotty Norred, Sidney Norred, and Chad Norred; 11 great-grandchildren; and 17 great-great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Mrs. Norred’s grandsons, John King, Ron King, Kevin Norred, Scotty Norred, Sidney Norred, and Chad Norred.
A Rock Mills native, Mrs. Norred was born on October 19, 1918, the daughter of William L. “Billy” Towler, Sr., and Josie Yarbrough Towler. She was a member of Rock Mills Methodist Church and was a homemaker and also worked as a spinner at Handley Mills. Mrs. Norred was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Bonnie Lee Norred; three sons, W. L. “Sonny” Norred, Keith Norred, and Maxie Norred; a daughter, Bonnie Faye Norred King; and 12 brothers and sisters, Homer Towler, Olin Towler, Freeman Towler, Wallace Towler, William L. “Bill” Towler, Jr., Grace Prescott, Maude Harper, Annie Johnson, Fannie Burgess, Essie Barfield, Cumi Harry, and Suzie Towler.
Memorials may be floral or donations may be made to Rock Mills Methodist Church.
