Graveside services for Sara Tennant Benefield, age 96, of Hoover, will be held at 1:00 pm on Wednesday, March 27, 2024, at Randolph Memory Gardens with Bro. Mark Lowry and Bro. David Henry officiating and Quattlebaum Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Benefield passed away on Friday, March 22, 2024, in Madison, Alabama.

Survivors include her son, James Tyre Benefield of Madison, AL, and a sister-in-law, Sue Tennant.

A Wedowee, Alabama native, Mrs. Benefield was born on November 22, 1927, the daughter of Charles Albert Tennant, Sr., and Nancy Carpenter Tennant.  She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Roanoke and worked in accounting for Roanoke Wholesale before retiring.  Mrs. Benefield was also a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution.  She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Lt. Col. (Ret.) James Porter Benefield; and siblings, William Barto “Bill” Tennant, Charles Albert Tennant, Jr., Tom Tennant, Joe Frank Tennant, Rachel T. Sanders, Ruth T. Yarbrough, and Mary Jane T. Shumate.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to First Baptist Church of Roanoke, c/o Mark R. Lowry, 6435 Louina Road, Roanoke, AL 36274.
