Obituary of Charles Overton

Funeral services for Charles Lee Overton, age 75, of Roanoke will be held on Tuesday, April 9, 2024, at 2:00 PM at Heritage Baptist Church with Bro. Derek Farr and Bro. Elton Overton officiating. Burial will follow in the adjoining cemetery with Quattlebaum Funeral home in charge of arrangements.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5:00-8:00 PM on Monday, April 8, 2024.  Mr. Overton will lie in state at the church for one hour prior to services beginning on Tuesday.

Mr. Overton passed away on Sunday, April 7, 2024, at his residence.

Survivors include his wife, Charlotte Overton of Roanoke; three sons, Joseph Lee Overton, Jonathan Charles Overton, and Jeremy Wayne Overton, all of Roanoke; 11 grandchildren, Jake Overton, C. J. Overton, Tommy Overton, Jeremiah Overton, Brody Bailey, Paige Thompson, Payton Overton, Mason Overton, Marly Overton, Kaitie Overton, and Chris Stearns; 11 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Barbara Earl of Roanoke and Lucy Prather of LaGrange; and four brothers, Jimmy Ray Akins of Valley and Bobby Joe Overton, David Overton, and Allen Overton, all of Roanoke.

Pallbearers will be Mason Overton, Payton Overton, Jake Overton, Tommy Overton, Jeremiah Overton, and Brody Bailey.  Chris Stearns will serve as an honorary pallbearer.

A Randolph County native, Mr. Overton was born on May 19, 1948, the son of Jacob Lee and Mary Alice McKee Overton.  He was a member of Heritage Baptist Church and worked with Wehadkee Mills before retiring.  Mr. Overton was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Brenda McCain.
