Funeral services for Joseph “Joe” Halker, age 67, of Roanoke will be held on Tuesday, April 16, 2024, at 1:00 PM at Quattlebaum Funeral Chapel with Bros. Wendell Ford, Derek Farr, and Tim Whaley officiating. 

The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5:00-8:00 PM on Monday, April 15.

Mr. Halker passed away on Friday, April 12, 2024, at his residence.

Survivors include: a daughter, Kayla Perry of Roanoke; son, Greg (Breanna) Cochran of Roanoke; four grandchildren, Ansley, Chris, Natalie, and Yvonne; stepmother, Barb Delli-Veneri; three brothers, Jerry Maxson, Ted Maxson, and David Maxson; and a nephew Jarrett Halker.

Honorary pallbearers will be the men and women of the Roanoke Fire Department, Roanoke Police Department, and the Randolph County Sherriff’s Office.

A Homestead, FL native, Mr. Halker was born on June 20, 1956, the son of Jerry and Jewel McGann Halker. He had attended Providence Baptist Church in Woodland. Joe loved air boating and enjoyed volunteering in the local fire department, police department and sheriff’s department. Before retiring, Joe worked as an operator at Mohawk. He also enjoyed working security at the Talladega races. Mr. Halker was preceded in death by his parents; a grandchild: and a brother, Sheppard Halker.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks donations be made to Quattlebaum Funeral Home to assist with final expenses.
