                                                             OBITUARY

Peter Dennis, age 82, of Roanoke, passed away on Saturday, May 25, 2024, at Tanner East Alabama Hospital in Wedowee. A Celebration of Life service will be held at a later date.

Survivors include his wife, Karen Fetner Dennis of Roanoke; a brother, Chris Dennis of London, England; several nieces and nephews; and many special friends.

A native of London, England, Mr. Dennis was born on May 14, 1942, the son of Frank and Grace Dennis. Peter retired from Her Majesty’s Mail Train after 30 years of service. In his younger years, he loved to play soccer. After moving to the U.S., Peter became an avid supporter of both the Atlanta Braves and the Auburn Tigers. After retirement, he enjoyed travelling. Peter was the true definition of a people-person; he loved meeting new people, talking to any and everyone that he could. He enjoyed trips to Wal-Mart; he eventually learned everyone’s name, especially the employees in the pharmacy. Peter always said that he was going to live to be 100 years old so that he would receive his telegram from His Royal Majesty to commemorate the special occasion. He had a tremendous love of music, regardless of the genre. He also enjoyed nature, especially watching and feeding birds.  He was a simple man who will be remembered fondly by all those that he encountered. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Leslie Dennis.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital or to the American Cancer Society.
