Obituary of Beatrice Walker
Graveside services for Beatrice (Bea) Walker, 89, of Roanoke will be held on Sunday, July 14, 2024, at 4:00 PM at White’s Chapel Methodist Church Cemetery with Bro. Scott Whaley officiating and Quattlebaum Funeral Home in charge of arrangements. The family has asked for immediate family only please.
Mrs. Walker went to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ at her residence on Saturday, July 13, 2024.
Survivors include her husband, Calvin R. Walker of Roanoke; her children, Theresa Mitchum (Keith), Sherry Walker, Calvin Walker, Jr. (Jennifer), Denise Diamond (George), and Chris Walker (Darciss); 11 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Walker was born on February 23, 1935, the daughter of Salmor and Martha Cornelius. She was a 1953 graduate from Handley High School and on September 5, 1956, married Calvin R. Walker in Lafayette, Alabama. Mrs. Walker worked as a seamstress at Palm Beach until its closure and at Stephanie Fashions until retirement. She was preceded in death by her parents and an older sister, Ida Frances Holloway.
The family is very thankful to those who brought food and gave comfort to us during this difficult time. Also, thank you to Compassus Hospice staff for their much-appreciated help during our mother’s final days.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that any donations in Mrs. Walker’s memory be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital at 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
