Obituary of Michael Eugene Morman

Funeral services for Michael Eugene Morman, age 69, of Roanoke, will be held at 11:00 am on Friday, September 20, 2024, at Big Springs Baptist Church with Bro. Ricky Hester officiating.  Burial will follow at the adjoining cemetery with the Roanoke Masonic Lodge officiating and Quattlebaum Funeral Home in charge of arrangements. 

The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5:00 to 7:00 pm on Thursday, September 19th. Mr. Morman will lie in state at the church for one hour beginning at 10:00 am on Friday.

Mr. Morman passed away on Monday, September 16, 2024, at his home.

Survivors include his wife, Rosemary Hester Morman of Roanoke; one son, Chad Morman (Mandy) of Mississippi; one grandson, Conner Morman; one brother, Pete Morman (Terri) of LaGrange, GA; brothers-in-law, Don Hester (Babs) and Ricky Hester (Alesia); sisters-in-law, Jennifer Vinson (Mike) and Phyllis Hodges (Joey); nieces, Rosa Causey (Justin), Brandy Barentine (Chad), Kelly Vinson, Elaine Hester, Megan Denny (Alex), Stephanie Doss (Scott), Jesalyn Pearl, and Jacquie Cummings (Matt); nephews, T. J. Rushton, Casey Hester (Kelli), Jagar Anthony, and Jeremy Butler; and a host of great-nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be Gabe Hester, T. J. Rushton, Bryant Rushton, Casey Hester, Skylar Hester, Justin Causey, Chad Barentine, and Rick Oglesby.  Honorary pallbearers will be Don Hester, Greg Mitchell, Mike Sheppard, Jimmy Osborn, Mike Horn, and members of Roanoke Masonic Lodge #132.

A former resident of LaGrange, Georgia, Mr. Morman was born in Troup County on March 26, 1955, the son of Fred and Ruth Shelnutt Morman.  He had been employed with Mohawk Industries and was a member of the Roanoke Masonic Lodge #132, in which he was a very active member.  Mr. Morman was married to his soulmate, Rosemary, for 44 years.  They were the very best of friends and were inseparable.  He was a devoted husband, father, brother-in-law, and uncle.  Mr. Morman had a servant’s heart and was always willing to help everyone.  He was preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Shelia Morman; his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Otis and Thelma Hester; one niece, Aleisha Hester.

Memorials may be floral, or the family suggests contributions to Roanoke Masonic Lodge #132 c/o Lew Moore at 490 Twin Lakes Drive, Roanoke, AL 36274.
