Obituary of James Charles Hand
James Charles Hand, age 71, of Roanoke passed away on Tuesday, September 24, 2024, at East Alabama Medical Center in Opelika.
He is survived by his daughters, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and brothers.
A Troup County native, Mr. Hand was born on July 13, 1953, the son of Vernon Harvey and Mary Rebecca Spraggins Hand. He attended Long Cane Baptist Church and was retired Amoco Fabrics & Fibers after 25 years of work. Mr. Hand loved Nascar and Alabama football. He was a United States Army veteran and was extremely patriotic and proud of his time in the service. Mr. Hand was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Maria Elena Hand; two sisters, Shirley Gough and Patricia Bridges; one brother, Edward Hand; and a nephew, Jeff Gough.
In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be made to the Wounded Warrior Project.
