Obituary of Ruby Thomas Vinson

Funeral services for Ruby Thomas Vinson, age 91, of Roanoke will be held on Wednesday, October 23, 2024, at 2:00 PM at Quattlebaum Funeral Chapel with Bro. Tim Whaley officiating.  Burial will follow in the family cemetery.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 1:00-2:00 PM on Wednesday before services begin.

Mrs. Vinson passed away on Friday, October 18, 2024, at Wellstar West Georgia Hospice in LaGrange, GA.

Survivors include: two daughters, Pam Eiland of Roanoke and Beth Brown Dodd (Mike) of Boaz; three grandchildren, Michelle E. Watkins (Keith), Hollie E. King, and Sharon Criswell; eight great-grandchildren; very special friend of Tony’s and our family, Susan Hamilton.

A North Carolina native, Mrs. Vinson was born on November 19, 1932, the daughter of Thomas Lafayette and Nyda Henry Moore.  She worked as an LPN at Randolph County Hospital and was co-owner of Audio City.  Mrs. Vinson was preceded in death by her parents; her husbands, Ralph Thomas, Ralph Whaley, and Hoyt Vinson; a son, Tony Ralph Thomas; a great-granddaughter, Haven King; a sister, Winnie Sanderson; and brothers, Earl Moore and James Moore.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks for any donations to be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital at 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105, or the Cornerstone Church Building Fund at P.O. Box 525, Roanoke, AL 36274.
