OBITUARY
Funeral services for Melba Lee Childers, age 77, of Roanoke, will be held at 2:00 pm, Monday, October 29, 2012, from Quattlebaum Funeral Chapel with Rev. Bud Stiltner officiating. Burial to follow in Valley Grove Cemetery with Quattlebaum Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
The family will receive friends from 5:00 to 8:00 pm on Sunday, October 28th, at the funeral home.
Pallbearers will be Justin Lyles, Evan Lyles, Jody Foster, Jeremy Cummings, Blake Cummings and Austin Cummings. Honorary pallbearer is Casen Cummings.
Mrs. Childers died Friday, October 26, 2012 at East Alabama Medical Center.
Mrs. Childers is survived by her daughter, Lisa (husband, Allen) Lyles of Griffin, GA; six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Childers was born October 8, 1935, the daughter of Odell and Lonnie Brown Hand. She was a member of Faith Baptist Church and had been employed as a seamstress with Roanoke Fashions. Mrs. Childers was preceded in death by her parents; one son, Michael Doyle Foster; two sisters, Helen Rushing and Geraldine Hand; and two brothers, Talmadge Hand and Jerry Hand.
