Funeral services for Jewell Raymond Henry, Jr., age 79, of Roanoke, will be held at 11:00 am (Central time) on Friday, December 20, 2024, at First Baptist Church Lanett with Rev. Ronnie Jordan and Dr. Jake Hayley officiating.  Visitation will be at the church beginning at 10:00 am on Friday. 

Services will continue at 2:00 pm (Central time) on Friday at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church in Roanoke.  Visitation will begin at 2:00 pm at the church, and a short service will follow beginning at 3:00 pm.  A private burial will be held later in the adjoining cemetery.

Mr. Henry passed away on Monday, December 16, 2024, at his home.

Survivors include his wife, Jean Carden Henry of Roanoke; one son, Neal Raymond Henry (Sarah) of Opelika; two grandchildren, Paige Henry and Peyton Henry; one sister, Patricia Henry Hanson of LaGrange, Ga.; one niece, Kristen Hanson; three nephews, Roby Joe Carden (Lori), Wayne Hanson (Judy) and Marty Hanson (Mandy); brother-in-law, Steve Carden (Wanda); sister-in-law, Sandra Carden Densmore.

Pallbearers will be Darrell Bishop, Harold Harmon, Thomas Gardner, Tim Sprayberry, Greg Mitchell, and John Coggins. 

A resident of Lanett from 1966 to 2019, Mr. Henry was a Chambers County native, born August 8, 1945, the son of Jewell Raymond Henry, Sr. and Elaine Dunn Henry.  He attended First Baptist Church Lanett and was a member of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church in Roanoke.  He had been employed with CarQuest 40 years.  Mr. Henry was preceded in death by his parents, an infant sister, Miriam, and his brother-in-law, Joe T. Carden, Jr.
