Robert Lynn Mann Obituary

Robert Lynn Mann, affectionately known as “Sweet Ol’ Bob”, Papa B, and Dad, passed away peacefully on January 3, 2025, at East Alabama Medical Center surrounded by family.

Bob was born on June 2, 1953, in Birmingham, Alabama, to Coach Roy Mann and Mary Mann.  Bob was a graduate of Auburn University and was an avid supporter of Auburn athletics throughout the years. He was happy to eventually call Auburn home. Bob was proud of his boys, Rob and Hunter, and was quick to brag on their sports accomplishments, whether it was baseball or golf. He was also extremely proud of his upbringing and could often be heard telling stories of his youth. As with any story he told, these stories were guaranteed to bring lots of laughter. It was evident how much he loved and adored his siblings, Jane and Bill.

Bob was a successful businessman who had an innate ability to inspire others through public speaking, where he effortlessly blended humor with wisdom. His entrepreneurial spirit drove him to succeed in various ventures while also inspiring those around him. Friends and colleagues alike were drawn to his infectious laughter and quick wit- which made every gathering brighter.

Bob is survived by two sons, Rob Mann (Heather) and Hunter Mann (Kasee); grandchildren, Skylar Mann and Carter Mann; companion and mother of his children, Sandra Mann; sister, Jane Mann Higgins; brother, Bill Mann (Beth); numerous nieces and nephews and faithful four-legged companion, Rip. Bob is preceded in death by his parents Coach Roy Mann and Mary Mann.

A funeral service celebrating Bob’s remarkable life will be held on January 10, 2025, at First Baptist Church in Roanoke, Alabama. Visitation will take place from 12:00 to 2:00 with funeral service at 2:00 p.m. A graveside ceremony will be held following the funeral service at Randolph Memory Gardens.

Pallbearers will be Eugene Giddins, Dalton Lott, Travis Stacey, Paul Higgins, Richard Surdykowski, and John Dodgen.  Honorary pallbearers will be Johnny Floyd, Joel Fortson, Dave McGuire, Seth Mann, James Mann, and Michael Mann.

The family respectfully requests no potted plants and prefers memorial contributions to Roanoke First Baptist Church (827 Main Street, Roanoke, AL 36274) or ALSAC/St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital (501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN  38105).
