Obituary of Wyatt Carl Lane, Jr.
Funeral services for Wyatt Carl Lane, Jr., age 90, of Roanoke, will be held at 11:00 am on Wednesday, January 8, 2025, at Roanoke First Methodist Church with Rev. Matthew Colburn officiating. Burial will follow at Antioch Christian Church cemetery with Quattlebaum Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5:00 to 7:00 pm on Tuesday, January 7, 2025, and Mr. Lane will lie in state at the church for one hour beginning at 10:00 am on the day of the services.
Mr. Lane passed away on Sunday, January 5, 2025, at East Alabama Medical Center in Opelika, AL.
Survivors include his wife, Phyllis Lane of Roanoke; one son, James Wyatt Lane (Ann) of Roanoke; one step-daughter, Susan Crozier Meier (Chris) of Marietta, Ga.; one step-son, John Crozier (Heather) of Opelika; four grandchildren, Cecil Lane (Caitlin), Lee Lane, Cody Lane, Caroline Doyle (Taylor); one great-grandson, Cooper Wyatt Lane.
Pallbearers will be Cody Lane, Cecil Lane, John Crozier, Chris Meier, Daniel Pike, Paul McMurray, and Billy Royston. Members of the Young Men’s Sunday School Class will serve as honorary pallbearers.
Mr. Lane was born on May 14, 1934, in Daytona, Florida, the son of Wyatt Carl Lane, Sr. and Alverd Jones Lane. He served in the Army during the occupation of Germany from September, 1954 to August, 1956. He was a member of Roanoke First Methodist Church and had been a cost accountant with West Point Pepperrell for 34 years. He was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Linda Lee Lane; and one sister, Barbara Lane Beals.
