Mary Carol Bowen, age 70, of Woodland passed away on Monday, January 20, 2025, at Tanner Medical Center-East Alabama in Wedowee.

Survivors include her husband, Kenneth Bowen; two daughters, Michelle Vordenbaum (Terry) of Opelika and Teresa Dodson (Kenneth) of Woodland; one son, Dell Sheppard (Stephanie) of Wedowee; six grandchildren, Charish Hayes (Dustin), Britteny Baker (Hunter), Destiny Daniels (Cody), Tyler Terrell (Kayla), Jacob Vordenbaum (Karmen) and Makayla Sheppard; several great-grandchildren; and one brother, Jimmy Blackmon of Roanoke.

A Randolph County native, Mrs. Bowen was born on June 28, 1954, the daughter of James and Gladys Towler Staples.  She was a member of Woodland First Congregational Methodist Church and worked as a seamstress for Lamar Manufacturing.  Mrs. Bowen was preceded in death by her parents; three brothers, Mack Blackmon, Robert Staples, and Billy Ray Blackmon; and a nephew, Dwight Blackmon.
