Obituary of Joyce Fallin Owens

Funeral services for Joyce Fallin Owens, age 81, of Roanoke, will be held Sunday, January 10, 2010, at 2:00 pm from Quattlebaum Funeral Chapel with Rev. Keith Benefield officiating. Burial will follow at Rock Springs Christian Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5:00 to 8:00 pm on Saturday, January 9th. Mrs. Owens died Friday, January 8, 2010, at Wedowee Hospital. Survivors include two daughters, Sharon Vowell (husband, Dewey) of Roanoke and Susan Humphries of Roanoke; two sisters, Shirley Miller and Doris Gilliland, both of Hudson, North Carolina; two brothers, Ralph Fallin of Fort Walton Beach, Florida and Douglas Fallin of St. Augustine, Florida; eight grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren. A Randolph County native and lifelong resident, Mrs. Owens was born September 26, 1928, daughter of Richard and Bernice Mitchell Fallin. She was a member of Rock Springs Congregational Christian Church and had retired from the Palm Beach Company. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, J. B. "Bill" Owens; two sisters, Norma Elliott and Hazel Coffee and a brother, Ronald Fallin.
