OBITUARY
Funeral services for Thomas Harold "Buck" Goss, age 72, of Roanoke, will be held Monday, January 14, 2013, at 12 noon (Central Standard Time) from Stateline Baptist Church with Rev. R. L. Vernon officiating and Rev. William Phillips delivering the eulogy. Burial will follow at the adjoining cemetery.
The family will receive friends at Quattlebaum Funeral Home from 11:00 am until 8:00 pm (CST) on Saturday, January 12th and from 8:00 am until 8:00 pm (CST) on Sunday, January 13th. Mr. Goss will lie in state at the church for one hour prior to services beginning at 11:00 am (CST) on Monday.
Mr. Goss died Wednesday, January 9, 2013, at his home.
Survivors include his companion, Betty Ann Johnson Strong of Roanoke; four daughters, Cynthia Bonner (Dwight T.) of Roanoke, Patricia Kelley (John) and Lucinda Goss of Franklin, Ga., Carrie Mae Thomas of Atlanta; four sons, Thomas Harold Goss, Jr. (Tracy) and Albert Owensby (Margie) and Tony Goss, all of Roanoke, Render Owensby of Atlanta; two sisters, Cenia Bell Clark and Emily Heard, both of Chattanooga, Tn.; 22 grandchildren and a host of great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be John Tinney, Jeffery Cameron, Brodrick Pool, David Jeter, Gregory Harper and Ronald Thomas.
A resident of Roanoke most of his life, Mr. Goss was born February 17, 1940, in Troup County, Georgia, the son of Charlie Mann and Mable Goss. He was a member of Stateline Baptist Church and owned/operated Goss Texaco. Mr. Goss was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Lucille Goss; five brothers, Clay Goss, Cisroe Goss, Ernest William Goss, Charlie Goss, Bill Goss; one sister, Georgia Mae Goss.
