Obituary of Russell Peterson, Sr.

Memorial services for Russell Ray Peterson, age 89, of Five Points, AL, formerly of Flint, MI, will be held Saturday, May 11, 2013 at 10:30 am, from the First Baptist Church with Rev. Ben Bailee and Rev. Steve Dean officiating. Quattlebaum Funeral Home in charge of arrangements. Mr. Peterson died, Friday, April 26, 2013 at his home. The family will receive friends at the church from 10:00 to 10:30 am on Saturday. Mr. Peterson is survived by his wife, Viola Nitzschke Peterson of Five Points; one son, Dr. Russell Peterson of Five Points; one step-son, Charles Johnson of Traverse City, MI; two grandchildren, Rusty and Travis Peterson; one sister, Ruth Schaller of WI; one brother, Victor Peterson of WI. Mr. Peterson was born January 24, 1924, the son of Victor and Ella Peterson. He was a member of the First Baptist Church, a skilled tradesman for General Motors, former National Championship Motorcycle Racer and served in the United States Marines during WWII.
