OBITUARY Funeral services for Amy Bell Shelnutt, age 95, of Roanoke, will be held Monday, January 18, 2010, at 2:00 pm from Quattlebaum Funeral Chapel with Revs. Cecil Halsey and S. T. Janney officiating. Burial will follow at Big Springs Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5:00 to 8:00 pm on Sunday, January 17th. Mrs. Shelnutt died Saturday, January 16, 2010, at Randolph Medical Center. Survivors include a daughter, Ruth Snyder (Troy) of Roanoke; two sons, Perry Shelnutt (Annia) of Roanoke and Grover Shelnutt (Suzanne) of Valley; a sister-in-law, Ruth Townley of Roanoke; ten grandchildren; several great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. Pallbearers will be Coy Bryant, Ronnie Richardson, David Shelnutt, Chris Shelnutt, Michael Morman, Ricky Morman, Dennis Shelnutt and Harold Arrington. A Randolph County native, Mrs. Shelnutt was born December 16, 1914, daughter of Willis Grover and Fannie Truitt Townley. She was a homemaker and a member of Springfield Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Howard Shelnutt; and three sons, Harold, Fred and Gene Shelnutt. Quattlebaum Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
