Obituary of Johnny William Duffie

OBITUARY Funeral services for Mr. Johnny William Duffie, of Roanoke, age 81, will be held Thursday, January 21, 2010, at 2:00 pm from the Quattlebaum Funeral Chapel with Rev. S. T. Janney, Rev. Bud Stiltner and Rev. Billy Watts officiating. Burial to follow in Levens Baptist Cemetery with Quattlebaum Funeral Home in charge of arrangements. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5:00 to 8:00 pm on Wednesday, January 20, 2010. Mr. Duffie died Monday, January 18, 2010 at Roanoke Health Care. Survivors include his wife, Iris Cline Duffie of Roanoke; two daughters, Kay (husband Ross) Henderson of Morganton, NC, Cathy (husband Mike) Breed of Roanoke; two sons, Mark (wife Tammie) Duffie of Wedowee, David (wife Wendy) Duffie of Roanoke; two sisters, Ollie Payne of Roanoke, Betty Cantrell of Wedowee; one brother, Harold Duffie of Lafayette; seven grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. Pallbearers will be Stephen Breed, Caleb Duffie, Tyler Henderson, Bradley Henderson. Mr. Duffie was born October 28, 1928, the son of Vasser and Cora Nix Duffie. He was a member of Faith Baptist Church and had worked as a fixer for Handley Mills. Mr. Duffie was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Mary Cantrell and Dorothy Wilder.
