Obituary of James Herbert Denham

Funeral services for James Herbert Denham, age 82, of Roanoke, will be held Saturday, July 6, 2013, at 11:00 a.m. from High Pine Baptist Church with Rev. Richie Farrow officiating. Burial will follow in the adjoining cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5:00 to 8:00 pm on Friday, July 5th. Mr. Denham will lie in state for one hour at the church prior to services beginning at 10:00 a.m. Mr. Denham died Wednesday, July 3, 2013, at his home. He is survived by his wife, Joyce Mitchell Denham of Roanoke; one son, Mike (wife, Leticia) Denham of Wadley; two step-sons, Rev. George S. Manley of Douglasville and Jeffrey Manley of Villa Rica; two step-daughters, Vanessa Potts of Stockbridge, GA, and Elizabeth Thompson of Roanoke; one brother, Claude Denham of Roanoke; six grandchildren; seven step-grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren. Pallbearers will be his grandsons. Honorary pallbearers will be High Pine Baptist Church deacons and great-grandsons. A lifelong Randolph County resident, Mr. Denham was born December 30, 1930, son of George and Mary Pullen Denham. He was a member of High Pine Baptist Church and had been employed with ProBuilt. He was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Jimmy Denham; one step-son, Lincoln Manley; three brothers, Carlos Denham, Clyde Denham, and Tommy Denham.
