Obituary of Linda Jean Knight Mayberry

Funeral service for Linda Jean Knight Mayberry, age 74, of Atlanta, formerly of Roanoke, will be held Wednesday, July 10, 2013, at 2:00 p.m. from Quattlebaum Funeral Chapel with Rev. Keith Benefield officiating. Burial will follow at Cedarwood Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home beginning at 12 noon on Wednesday. Mrs. Mayberry died Friday, July 5, 2013, at a caretaker's home in Decatur. Survivors include one daughter, Robyn Richardson Robton (Mikael) of Atlanta; two sisters, Frances Smith of Roanoke and Ruth Laxson of Atlanta; several nieces and nephews. A former resident of Ashland, Alabama and Norman, Oklahoma, Mrs. Mayberry was a Randolph County native, born June 15, 1939, the daughter of Edward Wilts and Ruby Dunson Knight. She was an English professor and had taught at Southern Union State Community College, the University of Oklahoma and Berkmar High School in Lilburn, Georgia. She was preceded in death by her parents; ex-husband, Jack Leon Richardson; husband, Mike Mayberry; one son, Devin Richardson; one sister, Annie Mae Wellborn; three brothers, James Knight, Edward Knight and E. W. Knight, Jr.
