Obituary of LaVelle Langley

Funeral services for LaVelle French Huey Langley, age 88, of Roanoke, will be held Wednesday, August 7, 2013, at 1:00 pm from Quattlebaum Funeral Chapel with Rev. Frank Foster, Jr., and Rev. Tim Taylor officiating. Burial will follow at Randolph Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6:00 to 8:00 pm on Tuesday, August 6th. Mrs. Langley died Monday, August 5, 2013, at Tanner Medical Center. Survivors include one daughter, Gloria Holder (husband, Dan) of Birmingham; one son, Gilbert L. Huey, Jr. (wife, Sandra) of Carrollton, GA; one granddaughter, Kenyon Holder (Richard Metzger) of Montgomery; one sister, Frances Johnson of Atlanta. Pallbearers will be Robbie Robertson, Charles Cone, Roger Cone, Jeff Langley, Nick French, and Danny Rollins. Honorary pallbearers will be Terry Taylor, Bob Taylor, and Phillip Johnson. Mrs. Langley was born February 21, 1925, daughter of James Monroe and Mary Ella Sikes French. She was a member of North Main Congregational Christian Church. She was preceded in death by her parents; two husbands, Gilbert Huey, Sr., and Gay Langley; five sisters, Mary Jim Keaton, Doris Giles, Helen Moring, Bessie McManus, and Cassie Wilson; six brothers, Walker French, Alfred French, Curtis French, Horace French, Hammett French, and Clifford French.
