OBITUARY
Funeral services for Mr. M. L. Burgess, of Roanoke, age 88, will be held Thursday, January 28, 2010, at 2:00 pm from the Rock Mills United Methodist Church with Rev. Bill Boggan and Rev. Jamie Taylor officiating. Mr. Burgess will lie in state at the church from 12:00 till 2:00 pm before the service. Burial to follow in Randolph Memory Gardens with Quattlebaum Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 10:30 am to 11:30 pm on Thursday, January 28th.
Mr. Burgess died Wednesday, January 27, 2010 at Traylor Nursing Home.
Survivors include his wife, Omie Hester Burgess of Roanoke; one daughter, Emily (husband Ricky) Nix of Montgomery; one sister, Ruby Cosper of Rock Mills.
Mr. Burgess was born September 30, 1921, the son of Marvin L. and Fannie Towler Burgess. He was a member of Rock Mills United Methodist Church and had been a textile weaver for Wehadkee Yarns and West Point Pepperell. Mr. Burgess was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Curtis Burgess; two sisters, Loree Kirby and Irma Jean Earnest.
