Obituary of Mixon I Nichols

Graveside services for Mixon I. Nichols, age 87, of Roanoke, will be held Tuesday, February 2, 2010, at 11:00 am from Randolph Memory Gardens with Rev. Steve Dean officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5:00 to 8:00 pm on Monday, February 1st. Mr. Nichols died Sunday, January 31, 2010, at LaFayette Nursing Home. Survivors include one daughter, Teledia Nichols Townley of Roanoke; one son, Nicky Nichols (Leslie) of Roanoke; one sister, Margaret Bozeman of Guin; four grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. Pallbearers will be Keith Townley, Corey Nichols, Eric Nichols, John Gibson, Ryan Sheppard and Nicky Nichols. A resident of Roanoke for over 50 years, Mr. Nichols was born January 23, 1923, at Marion County, son of Martin V. and Arnie Mixon Nichols. He was a WWII Army veteran and was proud to have served in General George Patton's Army. Mr. Nichols was a graduate of Auburn Polytechnic Institute and had been a salesman with Liberty National Life Insurance Company. He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife, Mildred Garrison Nichols.
