Funeral services for Roy Cecil Brand, age 88, of Roanoke, will be held on Tuesday, November 19, 2013, at 2:00 pm at Quattlebaum Funeral Chapel with Rev. Kenneth Johnson officiating. Burial will follow at Randolph Memory Gardens.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5:00-8:00 PM on Monday, November 18, 2013.
Mr. Brand died Saturday, November 16, 2013, at Hospice LaGrange.
Pallbearers will be Lawrence Brand, Rodney Brand, Robbie Brand, Eddie Laws, Brian Laws, Andy Lipham, Michael Heath, and Nabil Salman.
Survivors include his wife, Myrtle Stillwell Brand of Roanoke; one daughter, Janice Wilson of Brewton; one son, Randy (Geri) Brand of LaGrange; two grandchildren, Joe Morgan and Brittany (Nabil) Salman; two step-daughters, Sandra Ann (Mack) Baker and Myrna Lynn (Eddie) Laws both of Rock Mills; two step-sons, Jerry (Janet) Lashley of LaGrange and Terry Lashley of Rock Mills; six step-grandchildren; four step-great-grandchildren.
A Randolph County native, Mr. Brand was born on February 19, 1925, the son of Calloway and Ninner Daniel Brand. He was a WWII Army veteran and a member of Rock Mills First Baptist Church. Mr. Brand had been employed as an overseer at Wehadkee Yarns. He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Grady Brand, Howard Brand, and Glenn Brand; three sisters, Daisy Richardson, Dana Jordan, and Nina Hill.
