Funeral services for Barnelle Nix, age 79, of Roanoke will be held on Thursday, December 19, 2013, at 2:00 PM from Quattlebaum Funeral Home with Rev. Otis Hodnett and Rev. Jamie Taylor officiating. Burial will follow at Heritage Baptist Church Cemetery in Roanoke.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5:00-7:00 PM on Wednesday, December 18, 2013.
Mrs. Nix passed away Tuesday, December 17, 2013, at Columbus Regional Medical Center in Columbus, Georgia.
Survivors include: one daughter, Melissa (husband, Jamie) Taylor of Roanoke; two sons, Ricky (wife, Emily) Nix of Montgomery and Rusty (wife, Tina) Nix of Roanoke; two sisters, Marie Bradley of Thomasville, GA, and Patricia Willoughby of Atlanta, GA; two brothers, Junior Bailey and Doug Bailey, both of Roanoke; eight grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Rickie Taylor, Brandon Taylor, Ken Nix, Wil Towler, Randy Mickle, and Meachum Bailey.
A Randolph County native, Mrs. Nix was born on February 26, 1934, the daughter of Grady and Ethel Meachum Bailey. She was a member of Souls Harbor Baptist Church and had been employed at Palm Beach Manufacturing. Mrs. Nix was preceded in death by her parents; one son, Paul Henry; three sisters, Ruth Mickle, Jeanette Welborn, and Margie Reaves; and two brothers, Braxton "Bud" Bailey and Quinton Bailey.
