Obituary of Virgie Faye Moncus Harry

Funeral services for Virgie Faye Moncus Harry, age 94, of Roanoke will be held at 11:00 AM on Thursday, March 6, 2014, from Quattlebaum Funeral Chapel with Rev. Paul Messer and Rev. Ralph Barrow officiating. Burial will follow at Randolph Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5:00-7:00 PM on Wednesday, March 5, 2014. Mrs. Harry passed away Tuesday, March 04, 2014, at Traylor's Nursing Center in Roanoke. Survivors include: one daughter, Joyce Elaine Harry McKinney (husband, John) of Roanoke; two grandchildren, John Russell McKinney IV of Roanoke and Hermon William McKinney (wife, Julie) of Hoover, AL; and several nieces and nephews. Pallbearers will be Trae Foster, John Hendon, Charles Clark, Randy Adamson, Wesley Hill, and Tommy Hendon. A Randolph County native, Mrs. Harry was born on November 26, 1919, the daughter of Walter B. and Susan Emily Padgett Moncus. She was a member of First United Methodist Church of Roanoke and was a secretary with Better Vision Cable. Mrs. Harry was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Hermon William Harry; and one sister, Beulah B. Moncus Bowling. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to First United Methodist Church of Roanoke (PO Box 40, Roanoke, AL 36274).
