Obituary of Elizabeth Brown

Funeral services for Elizabeth Ussery Brown, age 93, of Roanoke, will be held on Monday, April 14, 2014, at 11:00 AM from Roanoke First Baptist Church with Rev. Ben Bailie officiating. Burial will follow at Cedarwood Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 3:00-5:00 PM on Sunday, April 13, 2014. Mrs. Brown will lie in state at the church for one hour prior to services beginning at 10:00 AM on Monday. Mrs. Brown passed away April 12, 2014, at Traylor Nursing Center. Survivors include: one daughter, Judith B. Smith (John David) of Tucker, GA; three grandchildren, Michael Smith of Gainesville, GA, Michelle Smith of Palm Coast, FL, and Paige Wyatt of Columbia, SC; three great-grandchildren. Pallbearers will be Jeffery Brown, Brantley Brown, Bill Almon, Joe Almon, Rick George and Randy George. A Randolph County native, Mrs. Brown was born on June 3, 1920, the daughter of James Dallas and Sarah Lee James Ussery. She was a member of Roanoke First Baptist Church and worked as a seamstress at Palm Beach Company. Mrs. Brown was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, William Earl Brown; one daughter, Beth Brown Matsko; two sisters, Leah Ussery George and Jonnie Ussery Almon; and one brother, James Dallas "Mickey" Ussery. The family will accept flowers or donations to Roanoke First Baptist Church.
