Obituary of Shirley Ann Estes

Graveside services for Shirley Ann Estes, age 75, of Wadley, will be held Monday, June 30, 2014, at 11:00 am from Mt. Gilead Cemetery with Rev. Mark McGee officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5:00 to 8:00 pm on Sunday, June 29th. Mrs. Estes died Friday, June 27, 2014, at East Alabama Medical Center. Survivors include her husband, Milford Edward Estes of Wadley; one daughter, Karen Hunter of Wadley; two sons, Charles E. Estes (wife, Christy) of Roanoke, and Bruce A. Estes (wife, Amber) of Enterprise; seven grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; one sister, Stella Sewell of Trussville. Pallbearers will be her grandsons. Mrs. Estes was born December 9, 1938, the daughter of William Ervin and Maude Devaughn Tidwell. She was a member of Abanda Methodist Church and had been employed by Southern Union in food service. She was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters, Mildred Abernathy and Pearl Harris; three brothers, J.C. Tidwell, Max Tidwell, and Wilburn Tidwell. The family will accept flowers or contributions to Abanda Methodist Church (c/o Joyce Ballard, 16350 Highway 77, Wadley, AL 36276).
