Funeral services for Frank Edward Denton, age 91, of Roanoke will be held Monday, August 11, 2014 at 11:00 am from Quattlebaum Funeral Chapel with Rev. Chris Mitchell and Rev. Jeff Freeman officiating. Burial will follow at Daviston Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5:00 to 7:00 pm on Sunday, August 10th. Mr. Denton died Saturday, August 9, 2014, at his home. Survivors include one daughter, Carole Denton Linch (husband, Kelly) of LaGrange, GA; one son, David Frank Denton (wife, Rita) of Roanoke; three grandchildren, Scott Edward Linch (wife, Amanda) of Charlotte, NC, Alan Denton Linch (wife, Erin) of Burlingame, California and Elizabeth Denton Hale (husband, Kyle) of Denver, CO; three great-grandchildren, Abigail Gostlin, Richard Linch and Harrison Linch. A long-time Roanoke resident, Mr. Denton was born September 11, 1922, in Yatesville, GA, the son of Renus and Mary Norman Denton. He was a graduate of Daviston High School and a WWII Army veteran. He was co-owner of Denton Lumber Company in Roanoke, attended Roanoke First Baptist Church and was one of the founders of the Roanoke AA Chapter. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Cenus Meigs Denton; a grandson, Kelly Richard Linch, Jr.; two brothers, Delbert and Elbert Denton; and two sisters, Minnie Kelly and Cordie Herron. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions to Community Life Church, P O Box 381, Roanoke, AL 36274 or the Richard Linch Memorial Scholarship c/o First United Methodist Church, 401 Broad Street, LaGrange, GA 30240.
