Funeral services for Edith Rosella Steeley, age 75, of Roanoke, will be held at 3:00 PM on Tuesday, September 9, 2014, from Potash Church of God with Rev. Charlie Bolt officiating. Burial will follow at Potash Cemetery with Quattlebaum Funeral Home in charge of arrangements. Mrs. Steeley will lie in state at the church for one hour beginning at 2:00 PM on Tuesday.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5:00 to 8:00 PM on Monday, September 8th.
Mrs. Steeley died Saturday, September 6, 2014 at Roanoke Health Care.
Survivors include one daughter, Connie Steeley Hester of Roanoke; one son, Buck Steeley of Roanoke; four grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; two sisters, Kathy Freeman of Ranburne and Betty Baker of Wedowee; four brothers, Emmett Smith of Roanoke, Alvin Smith of Roanoke, Waymon Smith of Woodland and Larry Smith of Roanoke.
Pallbearers will be Austin Steeley, Brennon Steeley, Matt Hester, Jason Hester, Mike Hester, Tony Richardson, Nick Williams, and Lamar Weaver.
A Randolph County native, Mrs. Steeley was born December 31, 1939, the daughter of James Oscar and Leona Baldwin Smith. She was a member of Potash Church of God and had been employed with Palm Beach. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Leo Steeley; two sons, Kenny Lee Steeley and Richard Charles Steeley; three brothers, Calvin Smith, Clyde Smith, and James Ray Smith.
