Funeral services for Willie Jackson "Jack" Cole, age 88, of Roanoke will be held on Tuesday, October 21, 2014, at 11:00 AM from Quattlebaum Funeral Chapel with Rev. Charles Fetner and Rev. J. Carlin Phillips officiating. Burial will follow at Cedarwood Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5:00-8:00 PM on Monday, October 20, 2014.
Mr. Cole passed away Sunday, October 19, 2014, at Traylor's Nursing Center.
Survivors include his wife, Rubie Mitchell Cole of Roanoke; one son, Barry Cole; four grandchildren, Chris Cole, Robin Akin (husband, Al), Lindsay Averett (husband, Steven), and Joshua Cole (wife, Kara); five great-grandchildren; and one sister-in-law, Lurline Cole of Roanoke.
Pallbearers will be Frank Cole, Charles Cole, Mike Mitchell, D.C. Mitchell, Gene Jackson, and Junior Brown.
A Roanoke native, Mr. Cole was born on January 8, 1926, the son of William Robert Cole, Sr., and Lilly Maude Slaughter Cole. He was a member of Liberty East Baptist Church and was a retired parts room clerk for Stran Building Systems. Mr. Cole was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Lula Maude Mitchell and Lila Mae Cole; and two brothers, Charlie Frank Cole and William Robert Cole, Jr.
