Obituary of Lois Selma Hill

Funeral services for Lois Selma Hill, age 89, of Roanoke, will be held on Friday, November 21, 2014, at 11:00 AM from Quattlebaum Funeral Chapel with Rev. Keith Benefield officiating. Burial will follow at Cedarwood Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5:00-7:00 PM on Thursday, November 20, 2014. Mrs. Hill passed away Wednesday, November 19, 2014, at East Alabama Medical Center in Opelika. Survivors include: two daughters, Susan Hill of Decatur, GA, and Kathy Hill Nixon (husband, Phillip) of Canton, GA; one son, Jackie Hill of Wedowee; five grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. A Randolph County native, Mrs. Hill was born on February 22, 1925, the daughter of Levi and Lula Veal Alsabrook. She was a member of Midway Full Gospel Church and was a retired lunchroom worker at Handley High School. Mrs. Hill was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Douglas P. Hill; two sons, William Hill and Dallas P. Hill; five brothers, Grover, Melvin, Willis, Henry, and Dawson Alsabrook; and three sisters, Willie Belle Sears, Bertha Roberts, and Elizabeth Blanks.
