Funeral services for Louise Gunn Tidwell, age 87, of Alexander City, formerly of Roanoke, will be held Tuesday, December 23, 2014, at 2:00 pm from Trinity Baptist Church with Rev. Ricky Cummings and Dr. Barry Cosper officiating. Burial will follow at Randolph Memory Gardens with Quattlebaum Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
The family will receive friends at the church beginning at 1:00 pm on Tuesday. Mrs. Tidwell will lie in state at the church for one hour prior to services.
Mrs. Tidwell went to be with the Lord on Sunday, December 21, 2014, at Brown Nursing Home in Alex City.
Survivors include one daughter, Sondra T. Woodall (husband, Larry) of Homer, GA; one son, William "Bill" Tidwell (wife, Marie) of Alex City; one sister, Maxine G. Gross of Roanoke; six grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
Grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
A former resident of Roanoke and Atlanta, Mrs. Tidwell was a Randolph County native, born January 27, 1927, the daughter of William Quaron and Sally Cook Gunn. She was a member of Trinity Baptist Church. Mrs. Tidwell had worked as the secretary to the Director of Public Safety for the City of Forest Park. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Collins H. Tidwell; four brothers, Ralph Gunn, Earl Gunn, Purvis Gunn and Hubert Gunn.
