Obituary of Judy Owens

Funeral services for Judy Owens, age 68, of Roanoke will be held on Sunday, January 11, 2015, at 11:00 AM from Quattlebaum Funeral Chapel with Rev. Fitzgerald Brown and Rev. Sonny Kent officiating. Burial will follow at Randolph Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5:00-8:00 PM on Saturday, January 10, 2015. Mrs. Owens passed away Thursday, January 08, 2015, at Traylor's Nursing Home. Survivors include: one daughter, Lucy Smith (husband, Lee) of Roanoke; two sons, Freddie L. Boggs (wife, Debbie) of Roanoke and Wayne Boggs (wife, Margie) of Roanoke; one stepdaughter, Rita Owens; nine grandchildren; three step grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; two brothers, Charlie Brown (wife, Margaret) of Roanoke and Jack Brown (wife, Sandra) of Wedowee; two sisters, Shelia Ocheske (husband, James) of Columbus, GA and Diane Brown of Roanoke; and a special friend, Jackie Browning. Pallbearers will be Patrick George Jr., Dale Hand, Jeff Hand, Dale McDowell, Ronald Cameron and Billy Fred Norred. A Roanoke native, Mrs. Owens was born on February 7, 1946, the daughter of Walter Glenn and Ruby Venice Jackson Brown. She was a member of Standing Rock Pentecostal Assembly of God and was formerly employed at Wehadkee Mills as a textile worker. Mrs. Owens was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Carl Hubert Owens; and a stepdaughter, Lisa Boggs.
