OBITUARY
Funeral services for Mrs. Lillian Gertrude Yates, of Roanoke, age 90, will be held Thursday, March 25, 2010, at 11:00 am from the Quattlebaum Funeral Chapel with Rev. Charles Fetner and Rev. Jimmy Brown officiating. Burial to follow in Cedarwood Cemetery with Quattlebaum Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 9:00 to 11:00 pm on Thursday, March 25, 2010.
Mrs. Yates died Monday, March 22, 2010 at Roanoke Health Care.
Survivors include one step-daughter, Patricia (husband Jimmy) Collins of Daviston, one sister, Lena Barnes of Roanoke; three grandchildren, Marie Johnson of Gadsden, David Lynn Brown of Gadsden, Christopher Brown of Attalla; four great grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Royce Johnson, David Lynn Brown, Christopher Brown, Junior Daviston, Scott Martin and Kevin Koch.
Mrs. Yates was born May 24, 1919, the daughter of William Cleveland and Huldey Jane Osborn Mulkey. She was a member of Bethel Baptist Church and had worked as a textile spinner at Handley Mills. Mrs. Yates was preceded in death by her husband, Aubrey Yates; her parents; one son, Bobby Ray Brown; one grandson, Michael Brown.
