OBITUARY


Funeral services for James Dorsey Florence, age 78, of Roanoke, will be held Tuesday, October 20, 2009, at 2:00 pm from Quattlebaum Funeral Chapel with Revs. Jonathan Hannah and Kenneth Johnson officiating. Burial will follow at Cedarwood Cemetery.



The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5:00 to 8:00 pm on Monday, October 19th.



Mr. Florence died Saturday, October 17, 2009, at Northeast Alabama Regional Medical Center in Anniston.



Survivors include his wife, Thelma Kelley Florence of Roanoke; three daughters, Brenda Johnson and Ann Smith, both of Roanoke and Reba Carson of Wadley; four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.



Pallbearers will be Daniel Carson, Lee Cameron, Will Head, Neil Smith, Roger Florence and Larry Clark.



A lifelong Randolph County resident, Mr. Florence was born January 24, 1931, son of R. T. and Ellie Clark Florence. He was a member of the Woodland Church of God and had retired from the Southwire Company. He was preceded in death by his parents; one granddaughter, Tennille Smith; one sister, Lois Brand; and a brother, J. W. Florence.
