Funeral services for Lillian Hood May Hammond, age 86, of Roanoke, will be held on Monday, May 3, 2010, at 11:00 am from Quattlebaum Funeral Chapel with Rev. Richard Richie officiating. Burial will follow at Cedarwood Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 3:00 to 5:00 pm on Sunday, May 2nd.
Mrs. Hammond died Saturday, May 1, 2010, at Randolph Medical Center.
Survivors include a daughter, Debbie May Rice (husband, Butch) of Wedowee; a son, Michael May (wife, Dorothy) of Roanoke; two granddaughters, Sheri Brown of Hartselle and Michelle Yarbrough of Roanoke; a sister, Geneva Jones of Woodland; three great-granddaughters and two great-grandsons.
Pallbearers will be Sam Brown, Alex Brown, Tommy Yarbrough, Jacob Yarbrough, Lamar Bonner and Ronnie Irvin. Jack Irvin will serve as honorary pallbearer.
A lifelong Randolph County resident, Mrs. Hammond was born January 25, 1924, daughter of Clinton and Eula Pearl Kent Hood. She was a member of Trinity Baptist Church and had worked with The Galley Restaurant.
Quattlebaum Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
