I'm sorry to hear that Mr. Smith had passed. He was a very nice man. I remember when my mom, Annie Lee Magby, would buy items where he worked. He had patience also. Later, when I got married, I purchased things at the store and Mr.. Smith was kind and patient with us, also. May God continue to strengthen you.

Earl knew me for 57 years and I knew him for almost that long. That's because Margaret and Earl Smith knew me as a baby. My father was pastor of FBC Roanoke in the late 50's - early 60's and Margaret and Earl were second parents to me. I once stayed with them a full month while my parents were on vacation to the West Coast, and would continue to visit every summer for a number of years.
Although I haven't lived in Alabama for 40 years, I've continued to stop over in Roanoke whenever I could and my wife and I had breakfast with the Smiths as recently as last summer.
"Boy Howdy" Earl, you lived to a ripe old age and lived a decent, wonderful life, giving care and concern to more folks than most of us will ever know.
May you rest in sweet peace.
