Funeral services for Earl Smith, age 87, of Roanoke will be held on Thursday, June 25, 2015, at 11:00 AM from Quattlebaum Funeral Chapel with Dr. Ben Bailie, Rev. Larry Armstrong, and Rev. Steve Dean officiating. Burial will follow at Cedarwood Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 10:00-11:00 AM on Thursday, June 25, 2015. Mr. Smith passed away Tuesday, June 23, 2015, at Bethany House in Auburn. Survivors include his wife of 62 years, Margaret Rollins Smith of Roanoke and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends. Honorary pallbearers will be the Men’s Bible Class of First Baptist Church and the Domino Buddies. A Randolph County native, Mr. Smith was born on May 18, 1928, the son of Jim and Emma Whitley Smith. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Roanoke and was a salesman for Roanoke Furniture Company for 33 years. Mr. Smith was preceded in death by his parents; six sisters, Carolyn Smith Wilkinson, Vernice Smith Hammond, Nora Bell Smith, Jene Smith, Tina Mae Smith, and Lillie Smith; and three brothers, Clarence Smith, Morris Smith, and Lewis Smith. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the First Baptist Church of Roanoke, 827 Main Street, Roanoke, AL 36274.
