OBITUARY Funeral services for Mr. Roy Wafe Williamson, age 89, of Roanoke, will be held 1:00 pm, Wednesday, April 6, 2011, from the Quattlebaum Funeral Chapel with Rev. Larry Armstrong officiating. Burial to follow in Randolph Memory Gardens with Quattlebaum Funeral Home in charge of arrangements. The family will receive friends from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm at the funeral home on Tuesday, April 5th. Mr. Williamson passed away Sunday, April 3, 2011 at Bethany House. Mr. Williamson is survived by his wife, Loree Wilder Williamson of Roanoke; one daughter, Sharon W. Guntherberg of West Point, GA; one grandson, Michael Sean Guntherberg of Auburn; one great grandson, Noah Sean Guntherberg, born March 9th, 2011; two nephews of North Carolina and one niece of Georgia. Pallbearers will be Michael Guntherberg, Keith Bonner, Kris Bonner, James Wilder, Henry "Spec" Bonner and Otto Wilder. Mr. Williamson was born in Randolph County, March 5, 1922, and lived his whole life there. His parents were Robin Truman and Barbara Ethel Gibson Williamson. Most of his life was as a self-employed barber and started his own real estate brokerage for 35 years. He served honorably in the United States Navy during WWII as Quarter Master First Class, on the USS Wyoming and others. Mr. Williamson was preceded in death by one son, Roy Ferrell Williamson; two sisters, Lera Mae Williamson Keeble and Agnes Williamson Bonner. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the First Baptist Church of Roanoke where he was a member for over 60 years.
