Tom & Sibyl Slagle posted a condolence
To Lucy Bonner and Family:
Sibyl and I were saddened to learn about Gerson, he was a true friend not only to us, but to the entire Slagle Family. He was especially close to my father Floyd Slagle (Slagle Grocery-Rock Mills)and when my father died, he asked if he could be a Pallbearer. He lifted us up through many sad times in our lives, he could always make you smile no matter what the situation was. He will truly missed by this family. Our thoughts and prayers are with you and your family now and in the weeks to come.
Peace
Tom and Sibyl Slagle

Gerson had a special way, a gift, if you will, of always knowing what to say and do at just the right time. He was a special man with great kindness and caring. We were proud to be his cousins and blessed to be his friends. May God keep his arms around his family now in their time of loss and sadness. With love to them. Mackie & Gerson Arnett

I have so many good memories of Gerson Bonner. I remember when Gerson and Lucy joined Trinity Baptist Church while I served as Pastor. I also remember when Gerson was ordained as a Deacon. He was such a good and godly Deacon. Another memory that I have is when Cathy and I would eat at the Mexican Restaurant someone would always pay for our meal. We later found out that it was Gerson and Lucy.
Gerson was a dedicated Christian and a great friend.
You cannot replace people like
Gerson, you just pray that someone will come along side.
Lucy, you and Karen are in our
in our Prayers.
We love you,

I worked with Gerson at Durwood and Gertrude Adcock's IGA Store in Roanoke from 1968 till 1971, along with Manley Benefield, Paul Messer, Wayne Roberts, Charles Treadwell, Mike Weathers, Jackie Key, the Adcock family and others. Gerson was a great friend and co-worker for whom we all had the greatest admiration and respect. I also got to know him later on as a funeral director and Gerson's character and attitude never changed. He was always a helpful, friendly professional. We will miss him greatly.

My precious family,
I just can't express how sad I feel right now, both for all of you and for myself as well. The comfort I'm finding is that Gerson did not have to endure all that we feared for him over the next few years. I believe with all of my heart that God takes care of his own and he did just that with our sweet Gerson. He just couldn't bear to see him suffer so he called him home. How can we not be joyful about that blessing? I love you all so very much and you know I'm always here if you need me.

Gerson was always helpful and with a smile, and met him numerous times at the funeral home over the years always with a smile and good word and asking if he could help in any way. Good man, will be missed by many. So sorry for your loss.
