I was saddened to learn of Penny's passing. She and I worked jointly on a number of projects when she was a reporter for The Selma Times Journal in Selma, Alabama. I was Public Information Officer for The Dallas County School System at the time, and Penny was always a willing and invaluable aide in assisting with our efforts to publicize the positive accomplishments of our students and teaching staff. Her energy, positive attitude, and ever-present smile made any project upon which we collaborated an absolute pleasure. Praying for God's Holy Comfort and Peace for her family and friends.

Penny was a good friend during my newspaper career. She was a great reporter for The Selma Times-Journal when we worked together years ago. I'm saddened by her loss. My condolences to her family and Roanoke friends.

Quattlebaum’s was founded in 1930 by Robert B. Quattlebaum on Roanoke’s West Point Street. Relocated to Maple Drive, Quattlebaum Funeral Home was just across from Knight Sanatorium for many years. In 1953, a new building was constructed on College Street – where the funeral home is today.
