Funeral services for Jean Foerster Ford, age 96, of Roanoke will be held on Friday, February 28, 2020, at 2:00 PM at the First United Methodist Church of Roanoke with Rev. Chris Martin officiating. Burial will follow at Cedarwood Cemetery with Quattlebaum Funeral Home in charge of arrangements. The family will receive friends at the church from 1:00-2:00 PM on Friday before services begin. Mrs. Ford passed away Tuesday, February 25, 2020, at Tanner-East Alabama Medical Center in Wedowee. Survivors include: two daughters, Ellen Oakley of Fontana, CA, and Cathy Stone (Ed) of Pelzer, SC; one daughter-in-law, Pam Ford of Roanoke; six grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren. Pallbearers will be William Lane, Paul McMurray, Randy Adamson, and Walter Sudduth. A Gilbertown, Alabama native, Mrs. Ford was born on December 29, 1923, the daughter of Gustave Edward and Ruby Dean Gray Foerster. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Roanoke and worked as a Junior High teacher at Roanoke City Schools. Mrs. Ford was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Robert Ford; son, William “Bill” Ford; a sister, Louise Astumian; and a brother, Gray Foerster. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the First United Methodist Church of Roanoke or the church of one’s choice.
