Nanny was dealt some horrific blows during her lifetime but she never ceased to be grateful and positive for what she had. She believed that if you treated others well, one would also be treated well. She was generous with what little she had and always had an open door for her loved ones. If there are angels in heaven, Nanny will be amongst them. We love and miss her and she will be forever in our hearts!

I have so many fond memories of Papa and Nanny in their home in Roanoke. I will always hold those memories dear. One of the biggest impacts Nanny has ever had on my life is that of character. She had one of the kindest hearts, and I hope I can one day be half the woman she was. I love and miss you.

I heard about this lady many times and I really wanted to meet her. How can this women be so sweet? I did meet her, and she was the most wonderful old lady - talking very nicely about everyone around her. Like her, I experienced WWII but in France rather than the states. I've met very few people in my life of 81 years that have left such an impression on me. I love her and miss her.

I was so sorry to hear of Mrs. Waters death. I am sure she will be missed by all who knew her, especially her family. I knew her and Mr.Waters from the beauty shop and later I visited her at Roanoke health care. She was truly one of the most loving people and you couldn't help but to love her. I will truly miss our visits. Wishing the family comfort and hope from God's word. Quattlebaum’s was founded in 1930 by Robert B. Quattlebaum on Roanoke’s West Point Street. Relocated to Maple Drive, Quattlebaum Funeral Home was just across from Knight Sanatorium for many years. In 1953, a new building was constructed on College Street – where the funeral home is today.
